I bought two of this online for my bridesmaid during my wedding, it was beautiful. Unfortunately, I overestimated the size for one of my ladies and had to buy another one of these dress in a smaller size to replace this dress.

Here are a picture of one of my bridesmaids wearing the dress.

Contact me at tara_rong@yahoo.com if you're interested. Ebay says that its retail price is $378, and I bought it for $178. Now, I'm asking for $90 (50% off!) or best offer.

Cheongsam Search in Singapore

I had just visited Arab street in Singapore to look for the materials I will be using in my made-to-measure cheongsam (aka Qi Pao). Having to choose something out of the myraid of possibilities is very taxing for an indecisive person like myself. I think I may be much more suited for off-the-rack purchases. I did, however, enjoy walking through Arab street and realizing that LA Fashion district does have cheaper fabrics. I happen to think that the cheongsam and the kimono/yukata are essential in an Asian woman's closet. And for other ethnicity, well, let's just say WHY NOT? It's pretty!!

Singapore

divine2 by you.

  • Divine Couture – originally from Singapore, sexy and eye-catching cheongsam custom-made designs can be found here.
  • Ted Wu Couture – Ted Wu designs beautiful traditional and modern cheongsams for brides of all personalities.
  • Mazzario by Mimi – long and short cheongsams available here, mainly in brocade and in some quirky designs.
  • Tan Yoong – Local Singapore wedding gown designer who also makes wedding cheongsams. Expect to pay quite a bit!
  • Allure Charix – Wedding gown designer who also designs lovely wedding cheongsams.
  • Dylan – Cheongsam designer with a girly feminine flair who does bespoke cheongsam for both casual and formal uses.

Kuala Lumpur

Delectable, ain't it?

Well, with the exception of a few pieces, you could probably recreate these Edun looks by shopping your closet a little. But I can't help wanting it all, which means that the people styling Edun's lookbook has done a marvelous job of creating the air of allure that mystifies the product of fashion. Plus, it's youthful AND sophistication. That is, ages from 18 to 38 are all looking to wear these. Celestina Espasol Silver-Plated Filigree Clutch

A little annoyed today about the limited range of brands Asians typically know. Plus there is that snobby vibe that usually accompanies Asians that define "big brands = good". Yuck.

Yes, brands give us quality materials and designs most of the time, but sometimes it really depends on the collection itself. And sometimes, the head designer at certain brand names get changed out and quality just isn't the same. I am not against big brands, I love them lots, but I would love to see people look at things that catches their eyes and ignore that name thing a little more.

So here's a brand I've never heard of: Celestina. The cutout filigree patterns on the silver clutch isn't for everyone, and it rather reminds me of filigree fence you would get at European establishments, which makes everything more romantic than it actually is. And because this caught my eye while surfing online at Net-a-porter, I RESEARCHED the brand quickly and found her many other clutches that are quite covetable.

Celestina Abalone Felipa Clutch

Celestina Mango Clutch

Maker of the Celestina brand: Tina Maristela-Ocampo.
Location based: Manila
Big editor moment: Anna Wintour included them in Vogue's list of 2008's must have accessories.

Now, wasn't that easy??? Google search took only a few minutes at most...And now I know a new name for clutches.

Statement by J. Tray Table

Last week, chibi's new home furniture finally arrived from Taiwan. Solid wood mahogany tables, handsome leather chairs, custom-made entertainment system console, velvet lounge chairs, majestically framed paintings, and a Victorian-looking easel. I LOVE IT! Everything looks beautiful, meticulously crafted, and luxurious. More importantly, the arrival of the furniture coincided with Chinese new year and after we cleaned house, it was suddenly a tidier and more livable space~!

I'm now rather obsessed about how furniture can transform space. And as I've been the spoiled queen holed up in my room lately, chibi has been serving me food and drinks like my poor slave (willingly though, I hope =P). So I really think this tray table ($69, Was $173) would be perfect as a present to him. The removable tray will be important when he has to bring me my food and drinks from the kitchen downstairs. *tongue in cheek* What do you think? Very Victorian-esque, eh? I pronounce this, my lust-of-the-day item!!

Statement by J. is having a sale at Hautelook right now.

Z Spoke at Saks Fifth Launched

I posted about Zac Posen's Target collection (coming out in April) earlier this month, and mentioned that Zac Posen is also coming out with a lower price line collection called Z Spoke. They were very efficient and the collection is already out! Go to Saks Fifth to take a look at the collection, which is priced between $98 and $575.

Here are my favorite pieces as a teaser:

1970s Wayne Clark Goddess Dress

My lust-of-the-day item is this vintage Wayne Clark Goddess Dress ($250 at Shrimpton Couture). For those of you who do not know Wayne Clark, he is Canadian and he shows up as a guest judge on Project Runway Canada.

He apprenticed with Hardy Amies and Ossie Clark in London, England. and is known for his fabric use, cut, draping, and glamorous bias-cut gowns. This goddess dress would be from one of his first collections since he started his label in the late 70's. Having had that much history in fashion, Wayne Clark's work has been put on exhibition in gallery before. Click here to read more about the inner workings of the man.

Ah, the royal blue is so amazing and the dress so easy to love. For those of you who spent money buying flowers that will die in a matter of days for your valentine, well...really...you could have done better.

Get your feet wet in the Lacey Trend

I've never been a very delicate person and I'm the type of person that would literally destroy my clothes with my rough and clumsy ways (albeit entirely unintentional). Recently, it struck me that LACE is becoming big in fashion. There was Stella McCartney and her lacey creations in the limelight last year. And now, people are layering the delicate fabric on during fashion week (ref: refinery29). And can I say "tres cute"?

So here's a feminine tunic with sheer Chantilly lace (and a low v-back) that you can try out for this new lacey trend. Why? Well, a tunic is very versatile and as a layering item, you don't have to worry about appearing too delicate, or becoming too cold. (Yes, a part of me is convincing myself that I need this discounted lace tunic).

On the other hand, there's also this beautiful Carolina Herrera lace dress on Gilt Groupe today, but it's really a standout piece that you can only wear for formal events. Ah well...none in my size anyway (phew)...

Helmut Lang Gray Leather Quilted Jacket

Here's my lust-of-the-day item. As you can tell, I'm very much into the high-fashion spring neutral shades of GRAY right now. Yesterday, my lust manifested in the shape of a silver lizard boxy clutch by Nancy Gonzalez. Today, it is this amazing lamb leather long sleeve jacket by Helmut Lang.

Don't be thrown off by the "quilted" part. It is definitely not grandma's quilts. The quilted details at the sides actually helps draw the eyes to your waist so that you don't look like a sack of potatoes in this generally unstructured jacket. Helmut Lang is known for making clothes in simple geometric shapes that defines cool chic. I have long wanted a Helmut Lang piece and this would be perfect as a easy-to-wear, go-to item to top off all my outfits...At more than 60% off, I'm really wish I have the money to take this deal off the market RIGHT NOW!! A lot of the other Helmut Lang items have sold out on the Gilt Groupe sale.

Nancy Gonzalez Silver Lizard Clutch

Nancy Gonzalez painted silver lizard clutch. Crafted in a hard box shape and style. Fully lined with lavender satin. In next-to-new condition.

Measurements:
6" L x 3.5" H x 1.75" W

Materials: Lizard
Lining: Satin

This is my lust-of-the-day that turned up at Hautelook.com. DecadesTwo is selling this next-to-new silver lizard clutch for 53% off. I really think it should be a little cheaper because it's not completely new. But that said, it sure is lust-worthy. Nancy Gonzalez always makes beautiful exotic bags, though I find them a little old sometimes, which is what happens when you craft crocodile skin into a hobo or tote. So I prefer my exotic skins in small doses and this clutch is the perfect dose. Plus, what a pretty color!! The lizard skin is understated and glamorous at the same time, so you will never feel like you're trying too hard.

Zac Posen for Target LookBook

photos taken from fashionista

Zac Posen may be facing financial troubles with the economical downturn, but this collection that is coming out at Target on April 25th, 2010 is simply AMAZING~~. All the pieces are extremely wearable and there are so many pieces I want. Although, I have to say, some of the pieces remind me a little of American Apparel and Urban Outfitters. My favorites are definitely the gown with safety-pin print and the one-piece swimsuit in tie-dye print.

The designer is only 29 years old, which is my age, and had risen to fame very quickly in the past. Now we hear the name "Zac Posen" and we think "beautiful dresses". Zac is also coming out with a lower price line collection called Z Spoke that will hit Saks Fifth Avenue stores on March 1st.
