I just wanted to say how impressed I am of the Stella McCartney dress that Liv Tyler wore to the Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People gala, where the first lady Michelle Obama also attended. The dress with lace insets is beautiful and despite exposing quite a bit of skin, it doesn't feel obscene at all!!

Stella McCartney also wore a lace garment of her own design to the Met Gala. However, it wasn't as well-received by the critics and Liv Tyler tells of how the lace jumpsuit was made just a few hours before the gala. Personally, I didn't think the jumpsuit was that much of a disaster, though I wouldn't call it gorgeous either. But Liv's dress is definitely the bomb. I am seriously lusting over it. All in all, Stella McCartney is still a genius!! (Check out Stella McCartney's exclusive Net-a-Porter summer '09 capsule collection, where she collaborated with British pop star, Sir Peter Blake, from the 60's.)

See all the looks from the Met Gala red carpet here. The gala, which opens the "Model As Muse" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC, is said to be the Oscars of the East. But unlike the Oscars, the focus of the Met Gala falls entirely on the gowns and outfits of the guests. The most talked about outfits of this year's ball include Madonna's bird-like headdress, Kate Moss's turban, Andre Leon Talley's Poncho, Leighton Meester's black-and-red getup, and so on.

On a side note, Michelle Obama attended the Time 100 gala in a beautiful side-parted updo, a full-length black dress by Michael Kors and a corset belt by Peter Soronen, with several necklaces by Loree Rodkin and diamond stud earrings. I LOVE her outfit! Yet another way to be fabulous in an all neutral color.
