Helmut Lang Gray Leather Quilted Jacket
Here's my lust-of-the-day item. As you can tell, I'm very much into the high-fashion spring neutral shades of GRAY right now. Yesterday, my lust manifested in the shape of a silver lizard boxy clutch by Nancy Gonzalez. Today, it is this amazing lamb leather long sleeve jacket by Helmut Lang.
Don't be thrown off by the "quilted" part. It is definitely not grandma's quilts. The quilted details at the sides actually helps draw the eyes to your waist so that you don't look like a sack of potatoes in this generally unstructured jacket. Helmut Lang is known for making clothes in simple geometric shapes that defines cool chic. I have long wanted a Helmut Lang piece and this would be perfect as a easy-to-wear, go-to item to top off all my outfits...At more than 60% off, I'm really wish I have the money to take this deal off the market RIGHT NOW!! A lot of the other Helmut Lang items have sold out on the Gilt Groupe sale.

Great sale on Gilt Groupe (ADAM and Helmut Lang)
(Left) ADAM Floral Print Silk Dress (Was: $375, Now: $128)(Right) ADAM Belted Flounce Skirt (Was: $295, Now: $94)
Some of you will remember ADAM by its former name "Adam+Eve". Its designer, Adam Lippes, is an up-and-coming designer to watch out for. He launched his company in 2004 and was inducted in 2007 as a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Before that, he worked at Polo Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta.
(Left) ADAM Silk Pleated V Neck Dress (Was: $425, Now: $118) (Right) ADAM Pleated Double Collar Jacket (Was: $595, Now: $168)
The silk pleated V neck dress (shown in freesia) is a stunning fashion piece with quality pleating. It is also available in marigold on Gilt Groupe (until Mon 11/24 noon EST). It is a great investment because the prints and the black-and-white trends are big in coming seasons. The double collar jacket is equally well-engineered and regal. It won't fit everyone's style, but I love the quality and had to post it.
(Left) ADAM Double Breasted Leather Jacket (Was: $795, Now: $218) (Right) ADAM Metallic Ballerina Skirt (Was: $275, Now: $78)I love leather jackets, and I love pairing leather jackets up with cute dresses or skirts. Only last Friday, I got asked out for coffee by a stranger while shopping at the Grove in my pink Urban Outfitter dress and Versace leather jacket. Trust me, leather jackets are great investments and I've been dying for a brown leather jacket too. I posted the skirt because my mom once made me one very similar to it and I loved it to bits, wearing it to everything and everywhere.
If you missed this sale at Gilt, don't worry, you can shop ADAM at his site. Also, Helmut Lang goes on sale at Gilt Groupe at noon (EST) of Mon 11/24. If you love simple but refined fashion items with an interesting twist, you should certainly look to Helmut Lang. Even though the designer, Helmut Lang, himself has not been involved in the brand since 2005, the brand has been been producing minimalistic and deconstructivistic apparel since the 1980s and creative direction is now in good hands. That is, after Tokyo company, Link Theory, bought over the brand, they named Michael and Nicole Colovos, an American-New Zealand designer couple, who formerly had their own Los Angeles-based denim label Habitual, as creative directors for the new Helmut Lang.

If I have all the money in the world...
If I have all the money in the world, this is the ensemble I would wear. I was attracted by the ruffles in the Elizabeth and James Orchid Trapeze Blouse so I decided to put together an outfit inspired by it. But mostly, I just wanted to carry that Mulberry Snakeskin oversized shoulder bag. It looks so sumptuous and glamorous, I'm sure this Mulberry bag will make a statement with any outfit. The two zippers on the side expands the bag if you needed it to. Think of it as a YSL Uptown bag turning into a YSL Downtown bag. Fab? I would say so. It doesn't close with a zipper up top, but instead employs a magnetic closure and a lobster clasp to hold the bag contents safely in the bag. Personally, I am fine with that because I love easy access to what's inside my bag. I know some people may hate it because they constantly spill and scatter the contents of their bags. And to those people, I say "you are a bigger klutz than I and you deserve the trouble of having to zip open and close your bag each time you take something out or put something in. Good riddance to you!"
So what do you think? Is the ensemble too much?
Ok, fine, if you find the purple on the Mulberry competing too much with the green on the Trapeze blouse, I will substitute the bag with another gorgeous bag from Anya Hindmarch. There, Happy now?
