Today, I got sick shopping US sites, and went to the shopping section of Yahoo! Japan for fun and found this cute and frilly dress~! Ruffles and a ribbon around the collar and layered skirting make this chiffon dress perfect for expressing the girly part of yourself that wants to be pampered. Hahaha...I particularly love the white flower on the model's hair. It only costs 3,998Yen, which is roughly $40 USD. Granted, you would probably need to be slim to wear this dress which has the maximum effect in the summer when you can show off your legs.
Then I went on Yahoo! Taiwan to find other frilly dresses (because I was bored, ok?) And I found this sweet little layered dress that looks like strawberry cake. Again, you need to be stick-thin to wear this look well, but it invokes vision of peach-colored spring heaven for me. Call me a romantic, but I like it. And it's only 680NT, which is around $20-$25 USD.
Lastly, a more OL (Office Lady) dress that was made in Korea...Also about $20 USD. And this is why I miss being in Asia. The quality of those clothes may not be very good, but you get to try out different items that may not last more than one season. Moreover, North American clothes makers do not seem to like frilly dresses as much as Asian manufacturers. My friend S.K. may not like anything with chiffon and silk, but I love love LOVE frilly material. I understand that these may not look good on North American women and thus, the demand is low for these dresses here. Plus, it's just not warm enough to wear such frilly clothes everyday. Sigh~~~...

EMK Placenta Product Line

Ever heard of EMK? Supposedly, EMK is the world's most prominent skin care and rejuvenation solution utilizing... ... ...human placenta! It promises healthy, younger looking, vibrant skin without plastic surgery or injections. As you can see above, Eva Longoria is said to have used the $85 EMK placenta protein cream, while Simon Cowell is reported to go for regular salon mask treatments with EMK placental texal face masks (click on above pics to see bigger image).
"Eva Longoria goes to extremes to protect her face. She uses EMK placenta-protein cream, which is packed with antioxidants and amino acids and promises to preserve a "baby-faced" look." [November-In Touch Magazine]
Skeptical? So was I, so I went to Beauty Beverly Hills' website to find out more information. (Beauty Beverly Hills is the exclusive worldwide distributor of the EMK Placenta product line.) Apparently, beauty products made with placenta proteins have been published in many major magazines (see here). Within those publications, the one in Times was quite illuminating. Apparently, a number of cosmetic/beauty companies has used placenta protein either from humans or animals as an ingredient for more than a few decades now. This includes Shiseido's popular Revitalizing Cream. However, few companies dare to promote it because North Americans feel so squeamish about hearing the word "placenta". There are also some skeptics who aren't convinced that the placenta is making the difference in those beauty products. NYU Dermatology Professor, Ronald Branccacio, thinks that because of the extensive sterilization process, the moisturizing base is more likely the procuring cause of smooth skin than the placenta protein.
Yet, many people have found benefits equivalent to botox from products with placenta proteins in it! Supposedly, placenta protein is known to improve metabolic processes, accelerate tissue regeneration, and stimulate immunity, so theoretically, it helps the body rid itself of toxins, carcinogens, radio-nuclides, heavy metal salts, and other metabolic by-products. The website also says that "EMK Placental products are loaded with minerals, antioxidants and amino acids that are naturally occurring as a result of the placenta protein" (Read more here).
It all sounds too good to be true. If you want to try this out, there is a Mother's Day Offer right now to give you a free EMK Facial Cleanser (a $35.00 value) with every order of $295.00 or more. Pour La Victoire Strappy Heels
Aren't these cobalt blue Pour La Victoire strappy heels just beautiful? I'm seriously lusting now...unfortunately, my lifestyle right now has no use for these gorgeous heels. Nevertheless, I could still rave wildly about these beauties! I haven't posted anything about Urban Outfitters for a while now, but I continue to be a great fan of that store and all the apparel and accesorries in there. Check out their new accessories here, and their new shoes here.
Anyway, back to PLV shoes, my friend A.J. just bought three PLV shoes and one Report shoes from Endless.com, which is having a spring event right now. I thought I would share A.J.'s shoe choices with everyone because talking about PLV and Report shoes really excite me.

Pour La Victoire - Pascale Platform Sandals
First on the list is my favorite, the Pascale Platform from PLV. A.J. got this in black, which is hot~. And I think the sand color one is amazing too!! This pair of gladiator sandals may look very fashion-forward, but they are very comfortable too as it wraps all around your feet to support your walking needs. The details on the shoe is also very impressive. For example, some straps are weaved through the main piece of leather in the middle, there are studs subtly placed along the side of the shoe giving it both edge and sophistication, and the top two straps are braided to add that much more feminine texture to the shoe.

Pour La Victoire - Paige Sandal
Is it just me, or does this pair of sandal invoke a sense of sado-masochism. This is the kind of tough shoe you should match up with the most feminine frocks to balance out the two elements. Also a gladiator sandal, the front piece looks like an armor to me. A.J. got this pair in the sand color, so I thought I would show the Cognac color, which has a very different feel, and is also very delicious. She thought the Paige sandals were the least comfortable among the four sandals she bought because "the bottom was too narrow in the front and the front strap is a bit loose so the ring toe tends to be squeezed out a bit."

Pour La Victoire - Bethanie (Pewter Metallic Crackle or Black Boa Snake)
These have the slinkiest heels of all three PLV shoes A.J. bought, so it might come as a surprise, but according to A.J., these are the most comfortable pair. She got it in Teal (not shown here) and is probably still lusting over the Metallic Pewter, which is OH SO SEXY!!! But exotic teal is oh-so-beautiful too, A.J.! Plus, teal-colored shoes are statement shoes, so it's all good~~.

Report - Tocai (Coral or Nude)
These Tocai sandals reminds me of Marni shoes because of the use of patent and the color combinations. A.J. thinks they are daunting, and that makes me even more curious than ever (having never tried them on before). Yet, oooh, they are so hot!!! I would like to try pairing them with geometic mod dresses, flowy print dresses, or just sharp basic apparel pieces. Looking at these sandals really gives me the feeling of Spring!!! Great buys, A.J.!

Olympus FE-3010 12 Megapixel Digital Camera
I am racking my brains on what to get my mom for Mother's day (May 10th). And here are the two ideas I have. Diamonds, because they are supposedly a girl's best friend, and a magenta digital camera because well, it's pink. The diamonds are not really high quality (0.1 ct, I2 clarity, and k color) but it's really cheap at $50, which is just nice for my budget since I am unemployed. Otherwise, I could give her an Olympus digital camera, because she should have her own digital camera and hopefully, it will encourage her to travel as she has always wanted to (but never did). $150 is reasonable and the color pink is cute. However, I'm worried she won't be able to handle the technology...what to do, what to do? What are you getting for your mom this Mother's Day?
