Despite being able to find very useful apparel from Gap, the truth is, Gap sometimes bore me. However, this season, Gap has truly reinvented itself. First, with the 2009 Gap/CFDA collaboration, they scored collaborations with Alexander Wang and Vena Cava for a Spring khaki collection which includes sharp Aztec print dresses, slick motorcycle jackets, trench coats, shorts, and so on. It will hit stores June 16th. How exciting! Both Alexander Wang and Vena Cava are CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund winners in 2009 (Wang won first place and Vena Cava won runner-up).
Now, they even signed Stella McCartney on for a kids' collection that will launch later this year in select GapKids and babyGap stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Ireland, and Japan. Stella is no stranger to collaborations. She has done a one-off adult collection for H&M, and she maintains a long standing collaboration to make bags for LeSportsac, as well as sporty things for Adidas. To put Stella McCartney designs on cute little kids is GENIUS. How VERY exciting!
